Surprise! We Made a T-Shirt!

Genevieve and I have been wanting to make a T-Shirt for Islands in the Sky for awhile now but things never came together and we didn't want to just reuse old art and slap it on a shirt. About a two months ago, a friend of ours offered to help us get one printed up...since he had done a lot of research into custom shirt companies and all that. Genevieve was caught up with other things (doing the art for the business cards among them) but in the span of a week or so, we came up with a pretty cute idea that we thought would be fun for a T-Shirt.

The criteria we had for the shirt idea was two basic things:

1. It should appeal to both guys and gals.
2. It doesn't have to appeal to just IITS fans.

Here is the actual image against a baby blue background:

These will be printed on the "classic" Bella girl's tee's in white for sure and we're looking about getting them on more colors but a lot of it has to do with how well the process (water discharge as opposed to silk screening) turns out on darker colors. We went with water discharge because of the number of colors can be much too labor intensive for silk screening.

Here is what the design would conceivably look like on a shirt:

By the way, someone on Zazzle.com (though it should be noted, we did not go through Zazzle) made some templates for blank tees and you can upload images to try them out so I wanted to give credit here in some form to that.

So what do you all think? Do we have any girls following the site that would get this shirt? Any guys interested in shirts with Kayli and rainbows on it?

  1. Haha, Joe knows I'm still skeptical that most guys would wear a shirt with rainbows and cupcakes. But I don't know, there are some pretty quirky shirts out there for guys. We were actually debating on whether we should remove the rainbow and the floating foods and leave Kayli and the pile of meats. Any thoughts, guys?

  2. I did plan on having guy shirts made but the color was a concern since guys like black or otherwise darker shirts and I didn't know if the process would work well enough on black shirts. However, the main reason I didn't announce guy versions of the shirt is because we haven't heard back from the printers yet. I'll order a few for guys if I can get into contact with them about what shirts (brands) they think will work best with the water discharge process.

  3. Hell, I don't care what color it is, or whats on the shirt, I'd wear it as is. Looks great, awesome job guys :)
    Totally buying that.

  5. Yeah I agree with Chris. The design is nice. As for the rainbows and the cupcakes... I'll just point out the fact that there is a cute naked chic in the middle of the shirt. That fact will keep the peeps at bay. I'd wear a baby blue version of this shirt(like the concept pic). It would be better in maybe navy blue but that's just me being picky. I always need yet another t-shirt. If you're sellin' then I'm buying~

  6. I just found out that we're going to only have girl's tee's for Comic-Con but that's because it was a rush order and there was a bit of a misunderstanding between us and the printers. However, we should be able to provide guy's tee's through the site within only a short time after the show. We'll let you know as we find out more.
